ROD Stewart looks delighted to have got his hands on a prized Scotland v England match programme from almost 70 years ago.
The Scotland fan was spotted opening his mail to admire his new acquisition while out on a shopping trip with wife Penny Lancaster in Los Angeles.
Rod, 70, was famously among Tartan Army fans who invaded the pitch at the end of Scotland’s 2-1 victory over the Auld Enemy in 1977.
But there is little chance that he was at the Wembley match in April 1947 – in which Scotland took the lead but were pegged back to a 1-1 draw – as he was only two at the time.
Model and photographer Penny, 43, was showing off her hot legs in skinny jeans and looking stylish in a light grey biker jacket as they wandered round the homeware shop.
But the Maggie May singer didn’t wear it so well in Adidas training gear and scruffy-looking Asics trainers.
Like Penny, Rod kept his sunglasses on in the store.
But it didn’t darken his enthusiasm for his vintage match souvenir and he smiled broadly as he admired it

Heaven forbid the man who brought us the leopard-print catsuit could make a sartorial faux-pas.
But Maggie May crooner Rod Stewart might not be starting a new trend with his latest look.
The 70-year-old singer appeared to have tucked one of his trouser legs into his sock as he perused a homeware store with model wife Penny, 43, in Los Angeles on Thursday.
As if plucked from the pages of an Adidas catalogue, singer was dressed head-to-toe in the sportswear brand's gear, only switching sides for a pair of scruffy looking trainers.
Despite looking like he'd been out for a jog, Rod's white top and black jogging bottoms were pristine, with only his flyaway blonde mane suggesting he'd felt the wind in his hair.
Meanwhile, Penny was effortlessly stylish as she chatted to her husband in a grey soft-leather jacket, a brown t-shirt and stone jeans which were unzipped at the base.
Fortunately for Penny, she'd gone sockless in her patterned Converse so there was no chance of repeating her husband-of-seven-year's style.
Blonde Penny clutched a hot drink in her hand and kept her aviator sunglasses on in the store.
The couple looked as close as ever as they wandered back to their car together, arms laden with goodies for their LA home.
Rod had his left arm full with an envelope and large candle, wrapped up with a large bow and layers of cellophane.
In his other hand, the singer held tightly to a yellow box with a glass pane on the front.
Homeward bound: The couple looked as close as ever as they wandered back to their car together, arms laden with goodies for their LA home
Penny, on the other hand, kept her purchases hidden in a brown paper bag, but she did leave one item on show.
The mother-of-two could be seen holding a Bagel Whizz, a fun gadget made up of a plastic disc with bumps on it that allows you to scoop the bready inside out of a bagel and thus cut down on calories.
Calorie-conscious Penny makes her living as an underwear model, particularly with designer brand Ultimo, so the device should be a healthy addition to the pair's kitchen.
Penny's large diamond wedding ring was also on full display as the pair stepped out for the day.
Rod was beaming by the time he got back to the car, with his trouser leg returned to its conventional position.
The last time the couple were spotted out was walking hand-in-hand in Beverley Hills on January 10 as they grabbed a cup of coffee on the rocker's 70th birthday.

A Los Angeles photographer’s $5 million lawsuit against Rod Stewart and Caesars Palace for the alleged use of one of her shots in the singer’s stage show will be put on hold during the casino entertainment company’s bankruptcy case, a judge ordered Wednesday.
In her lawsuit for copyright infringement, filed last year in Los Angeles federal court, Bonnie Schiffman claims Stewart illegally used a 1981 photo she took of the back of his head and shoulders as part of the scenery at a series of shows in Las Vegas.
Schiffman said the Stewart photo was properly used on the singer’s 1989 album, “Storyteller,” but she did not license its use for the Las Vegas shows.
The suit seeks a total of $5 million in compensatory and punitive damages.
Caesars Entertainment Corp. — owner of Caesars Palace — filed for bankruptcy protection this month.
U.S. District Judge Andre Birotte Jr. ordered a status report every 120 days updating the court of the status of the Chapter 11 case.
Rod Stewart will be fronting his own show on smoothfm from 1 February at 4pm.
The British singer-songwriter will present a series of one hour shows from this Sunday where he will play some of his favourite artists and songs to provide the ideal soundtrack for listeners to wind
down from their busy working week.
Stewart said, “You’ve heard my singing voice many times on smoothfm, so I thought it was time I grabbed the mic so we could have a chat. I’m looking forward to hearing your smooth favourites and
playing you some of mine.”
Paul Jackson, NOVA Entertainment’s Group Program Director said, “Rod Stewart is one of the greatest and most enduring artists of all time. He has created so many magical songs that our listeners
associate with memorable moments in their lives from Have I told You Lately to Maggie Mae and The First Cut Is The Deepest, we are delighted to have Rod host his own shows on smoothfm.”
Ahead of his Australian tour in March and April, Stewart is the latest star to join the smoothfm family. Previous artists that have presented their own shows include Ronan Keating, Michael Bublé,
Seal, Olivia Newton-John, James Blunt and Keith Urban.

Rod Stewart has entered his eighth decade, and the music legend certainly 'Wears it Well'. The
Forever Young singer looks sprightly and suave in photos released of his 70th birthday party, which took place on Saturday at his Beverly Hills home. Rod's wife Penny Lancaster arranged the 1940s theme party, which gave a nod to the decade in which the birthday boy was
born.
A rep for the couple confirmed: "Penny had arranged an evening to remember, with their 120 guests dressed in classic 1940s style.
"Rod surprised his guests by starting out the entertainment with a few of his great American song book classics. Followed by the wonderful 19 piece Glen Miller band. Topping the bill, and to
everyone's delight, The Faces reunited on stage in honour of Ian McLagan."
n the snap shared from the celebrations, Rod is joined by his friends and family including wife Penny, Faces drummer Kenney Jones, Rolling Stones star Ronnie Wood – former guitarist for The Faces – and his wife Sally.
The singer looks snappy in a sharp white suit and shirt, while Penny fitted the 1940s theme in a red gown and statement jewellery.
Rod has recently opened up about turning 70, and told The Mirror that he is "wiser now" and described his wife Penny as "an angel".
"Penny is an angel, I love her to death," he said. "She really has been an inspiration and protection, my Berlin Wall. We have a lot of fun. I met Penny in my 50s and if I had not
learned by that point in my life, I was never going to."
Commenting on reaching the milestone birthday, he revealed: "I don't think birthdays mean as much to guys. Birthdays come and go and they don't worry me at all."

There was no disguising the wide smile on Rod Stewart's face on Tuesday.
Because the legendary crooner was spinning off with his gorgeous wife Penny Lancaster and his speedy set of slick, white wheels, the Ferrari 458 Spider.
Rod, 70, treated his 43-year-old wife to dinner on Rodeo Drive, looking sleek in a leather jacket and paisley neck scarf.
The singer, who turned 70 years old on Saturday, cut a youthful figure, which was only helped by his slick set of wheels.
He was first spotted with the sporty car model, thought to be valued at more than $257k, in September 2014 after adding it to his collection of supercars.
Rod, thought to be worth as much as £115 million, had previously owned a 1990 F40 Ferrari model, which was listed at around £760 at auction in July last year and his Lamborghini Miura went up for sale at £900 the same summer.
The Maggie May singer was the picture of health alongside his model wife, who looked leggy in a pair of skinny jeans and boots.
She accessorised well with Western inspirations, as she layered on an ombre checkered shirt and sand-coloured shoes.
Rod and Penny have been married for seven years now and have sons Alastair Wallace Stewart, eight, and three-year-old Aiden.
He celebrated his 70th birthday on Saturday alongside his wife Penny Lancaster.
And veteran rocker Rod Stewart couldn't have been happier to mark the landmark occasion in the company of the blonde beauty, who he has been with for 15 years, describing her as his saving grace in life.
The Maggie May singer was seen strolling along in Beverly Hills, hand-in-hand with Penny as they kicked off his low-key birthday celebrations by grabbing a cup of coffee.
Rod has revealed the 43-year-old model came along at exactly the right time in his life and credits her with making him a better person.
Penny is an angel. She really has been an inspiration and protection, my Berlin Wall', he told the Sunday People.
'I met Penny in my 50s and if I had not learnt [to be better] by that point in my life, I was never going to.'
The pair - who have sons Alistair, nine, and Aiden, three, together - met at a Christmas party in 1998 when one of Penny's friends dared her to ask for Rod's autograph.
They started dating the following year and tied the knot in Porofino, Italy in 2007.
Rod and Penny's strong relationship was certainly evident as they strolled along in the sunshine.

The former Faces frontman was rocking double denim with a bright purple jumper underneath.
Penny was sporting a smart casual look comprising skinny jeans, a Breton top and a bright red handbag.
As Rod reaches milestone birthday, we recall his musical and marital ups and downs.
He’s long been a pensioner and now he’s set to become a septuagenarian.
But most would have to admit that, as he turns 70, Rod Stewart’s wearing it well.
Scotland’s most high profile adopted son has reached the milestone today with some special celebrations planned.
There have been both musical and marital highs and lows along the way, but as he showed in front of a billion-strong audience at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, footie-daft Rod’s still going strong.
Here are Rod’s defining decades.
• 1960s
London-born Rod’s musical roots in the 60s saw him have some early success with the Jeff Beck Group as well as joining The Faces alongside Ronnie Wood, who became a Rolling Stone.
He was already wise to the ways of getting attention and admits stories about being a gravedigger – “I just measured up the graves” – were spun just to make himself seem more interesting.
• 1970s
A decade of success with music, money and women. It kicked off with Maggie May topping the charts on both sides of the Atlantic
Hit after hit, like Sailing, This Old Heart of Mine, Hot Legs and Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?, followed as the 70s wore on.
He was earning so much he moved to the States to avoid punitive taxes on his massive royalties – and rung the changes romantically too.
Rod started with model Dee Harrington, had a much-photographed mid-decade fling with sexy Swedish actress Britt Ekland and rounded it off by making George Hamilton’s ex Alana the first Mrs Stewart.
• 1980s
By 1984 Alana had become the first ex Mrs Stewart, swapped for another model, literally, in the form of Kelly Emberg.
He says there was a procession of leggy lovelies from all over making their way to his south of France pad at one stage, although he concedes there was a “shallow emptiness” to it.
“I was never a good-looking guy but I had a certain amount of charm and I was the singer in a rock group.”
Musically, Baby Jane and Every Beat Of My Heart were among a less stellar collection of songs.
• 1990s
Rod saw in the decade by marrying model Rachel Hunter – and ended it by separating. They divorced in 2006.
They had two kids, Renee and Liam, to add to the four he’d already had – Sarah, whom he’d had in the 60s, Kimberley and Sean with Alana and Ruby to Kelly.
All for Love, with Sting and Bryan Adams, from The Three Musketeers movie was a chart-topper and there was acclaim and new fans won over from an MTV Unplugged special.
• 2000s
That famously gravelly voice was at risk at the start of the decade when docs had to perform emergency surgery after Rod was found to have throat cancer.
He spent nine months fearing the tool of his trade would never return.
New love with, just for a change, model Penny Lancaster helped him through it and after years together it seems it was third time lucky for Rod when the couple wed in 2006.
They had two more kids, Alastair and Aiden, to make him a dad of eight.
Having now sold over 100 million records, the Great American Songbook albums of old classics helped put Rod back on top after a leaner period.
• 2010s
Time – an album of original music in 2013 after decades where he’d given up songwriting feeling he just wasn’t any good – was another well received late career move.
His stage skills weren’t a gamble for Las Vegas bosses who signed him up for a two-year residency. And he showed them off in style to Scots fans, as the opening act for both the SECC Hydro and last summer’s Commonwealth Games.
One is a famous rocker, while the other is a top fashion model.
So it comes as quite the surprise that Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster failed to impress in clashing attire during their latest outing.
The married couple - who have been together since 1999 – were spotted enjoying an early morning breakfast at Le pain Quotidien in Los Angeles on Thursday.
The 43-year-old beauty wore a grey leather jacket and skintight jeans, which she teamed with a leopard-print scarf.
Toting her belongings in a large designer handbag, she opted to shun heels for a sensible pair of black flats.
Her beau, 69, caught the eye in a tartan print jacket and dark loose-fit jeans.
Strolling along the streets in study lace-up shoes, he concealed his eyes with a classy set of silver rimmed sunglasses.
Both Rod and Penny appeared to be in relaxed spirits as they casually made their way to the fancy eatery.
Later that day, the British singer slipped into something a little more smart for a night out at Bouchon's in Beverly Hills.
He rocked a black blazer with matching trousers, while rounding things off with a bright red waist-coat and a crisp white shirt.
