Rod Stewart recorded new album at LA home
Rod Stewart has revealed that recording his new album, Another Country, at his home in LA was an "intimate and inspiring" experience.
Speaking about Another Country, which will be Stewart's 30th solo album, Stewart said: “I’ve found that the only way to write songs is to be as personal and honest as
possible.
“And when my last album was so well-received it gave me the confidence to keep on writing, and to examine and write about different things.
"It also gave me the freedom to experiment with different sounds like reggae, ska and Celtic melodies.”
Collaborating closely with Kevin Savigar, who co-produced the album, Stewart recorded the album at his spacious home in California.
"It seems like I've spent years of my life in a recording studios so being able to record this album at home, where most of the songs were written, felt so much more intimate and inspiring."
The first single from Another Country, Love Is, is out now.
Penny Lancaster, 44, wows in a low-cut satin floral dress as she and her glitzy husband Rod Stewart, 70, attend charity ball
There's something to be said for a couple that constantly makes appearances together.
And it was just another day on a red carpet for Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster as they showed up to the star-studded Caudwell
Children Butterfly Ball at Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
The ageing rocker and his gorgeous glamazon of a wife made a colourful addition to the litany of guests at the event, held to raise
money for millions of disabled children in the UK
Penny, 44, looked impeccable in a curve-skimming satin white dress, emblazoned with colourful flowers
The blonde model's long and lean curves were a perfect fit for the almost nightdress-style garment, which included spaghetti scraps
and a low plunging draped neckline, giving a glimpse of her ample cleavage.
She was a classic beauty in her retro-effect frock, combined with her decidedly 1990s-style blow dry.
And looking ever the dashing gent by her side was her adoring husband.
Rod, 70, went for a colourful ensemble for the evening, sporting a shimmering pale yellow blazer with black trousers and a white shirt
and tie.
He also made quite the statement with his rockstar shoes - leopard print lace-up brogues with a patent toe.
As ever, the iconic British rocker finished his look with a pair of black sunglasses and his famous hair as spiky as he likes
it.
The couple, who have been married for eight years, barely let each other go as they arrived on the red carpet at the event, held at
the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel in the capital
Rod Stewart tells Good Morning Britain he 'can't boil an egg' and that Taylor Swift should 'tackle Fifa next'
Rod Stewart has said that he stands by his wife’s eyebrow-raising comment that cooking makes men less masculine – and admitted that he cannot even boil an egg.
Penny Lancaster, 44, sparked controversy when she said earlier this month that men should stay out of the kitchen.
Now the Do Ya Think I’m Sexy? singer, 70, has told Good Morning Britain: “I couldn’t boil an egg to save my life.
“I’m embarrassed about it but I’ve never been in a position where I’ve had to cook.
“I tend to agree with her and I will agree with her because I’ve no other option,” he added of Penny, whom he wed in 2007.
Asked if he used staying masculine as an excuse to avoid the stove, the singer, who wore a floral shirt and checked jacket during his appearance on the ITV show, joked: “My masculinity comes in
other departments!
Penny sparked controversy when she told Loose Women: “I do agree with equal rights and if women want to go and work that’s fabulous.”
But she added: “Going as far as cooking and putting the apron on, I think that, not belittles men, but takes the masculinity and I would miss that….We’re different… men are from Mars and women are
from Venus, testosterone, oestrogen, we’re different creatures, I think you’ve got to let men do it their way…”
Rod, who was on the show to talk about his new album Another Country, also lauded Taylor Swift for successfully taking on Apple – and asked her to tackle Fifa next.
The rocker praised the US star after her intervention led the technology giant to perform a u-turn on the issue of paying musicians during a free three-month trial of its streaming service.
“I was knocked out with what Taylor Swift did,” he said.
“She spoke up and was very brave, she should sort out Fifa,” he said of football’s troubled international governing body.
And the added: “With the Greek situation last week she could sort out anything….she’s gorgeous.”
Rod said of being treated for thyroid cancer several years ago: “I couldn’t sing for about three weeks. But the voice came back, albeit an octave lower, so I sing a little lower now than I used
to.

Rod Stewart makes huge donation to WMGK’s Veterans Radiothon
For the past nine years, John DeBella and 102.9 WMGK have been raising money to support the Veterans Multi-Service Center, a Philadelphia
non-profit that aids veterans, through their annual Radiothon. This year’s fundraiser raked in a whopping $192,000, thanks in large part to Rod Stewart.
Mirroring his last year’s surprise donation, the rocker made another $10,000 contribution during DeBella’s live broadcast from the National Constitution Center on Friday.
Other donors included DeBella’s wife Lisa, Delaware Valley University, Fred Beans Lincoln, Jiffy Lube and more.

Do the kids STILL think he’s sexy? Madonna and Cliff were sent packing – but Rod Stewart, 70, manages to sneak his new record on to Radio 1’s trendy playlist
He may have turned 70, but Rod Stewart has managed to sneak his new record on to Radio 1's trendy playlist.
The veteran Scottish rocker has made the cut, despite the likes of Madonna, 14 years his junior, being snubbed by the station for
being too old.
The Hot Legs singer has found himself back on the station's coveted playlist after featuring on A$AP Rocky's new track, in the form of
a sample of In Broken Dreams.
The song was originally released by Australian rock outfit, Python Lee Jackson, with Stewart on
vocals.
The single also features hit-maker Mark Ronson and Miguel.
Twice inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Stewart has sold an estimated 150 million records worldwide since his music career
started in the early 1960s.
News of Stewart's track being played on Radio 1 received a positive response from music fans.
One wrote on Twitter: 'Rod Stewart has managed to get himself onto the@BBCR1 playlist. Love it'
Radio 1 has previously come under fire for ignoring the musical talents of more mature stars.
Cliff Richard, Madonna, Take That, Kate Bush and Robbie Williams are all on a long list of artists who struggle to get new material
played on the station.
Earlier this year, Madonna, who has enjoyed a 30 year career, found her single Living for Love, largely ignored by Radio
1
In 2014 the station was mocked for excluding 26-year-old singer and producer La Roux from its list of chosen
artists.
Breakfast show presenter, Nick Grimshaw, branded Robbie Williams 'irrelevant' in 2012, as the station decided not to play his single
Candy.
He told 5 News:'I don't know if he's now for a Radio 1 audience. I've never listened to a Robbie Williams song, but I really like
him," said Grimshaw.
'To 13- and 14-year-olds, he's not relevant – they've got One Direction. I liked Take That when I was little, but I'm not little
anymore,' the Radio 1 DJ added.
Status Quo found themselves back in the headlines in 1996 after starting high court action after they were kept off the play list for
being 'too dull.'
In the same year Paul McCartney criticised the 'kindergarten kings of Radio 1,' after they refused to play The Beatles' Real Love,
which peaked at number four in the charts.
Cliff Richard famously secured his 14th number one with The Millennum prey, despite the song not being played on either Radio 1 or
Radio 2.
Radio 1's decision not to give much airplay to older stars is seen as a strategic move by the station, which has a target audience of
15 to 29-year-olds.
However, Rod Stewart is not the first old-timer to be featured on the playlist.
Sir Paul McCartney, 72, has managed to get new material played, as it was a collaboration with rapper Kanye West and pop mega-star
Rihanna.
A spokesman for Radio 1 has been contacted for comment.
Rod Stewart is in Dublin to watch his beloved Scotland team play. No sign of a tartan scarf, though - maybe it clashes with the stripes he's sporting today.
Rod Stewart will play Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park this September
Rod Stewart is performing at this year's Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park - and has
promised a unique experience for his fans.
Announced on Chris Evans's Radio 2 Breakfast show this morning (June 10), the singer revealed that he will be playing a special set at the BBC's Festival in a Day, taking place on September 13.
"This show is going to be a one-time-only experience," he said.
"I'm excited to do some of the fan favourites that I also love - in football terms, these are the impact players that often get left on the bench."
Jeff Smith, head of music for Radio 2 and 6 Music, stated: "It's a complete honour to have Rod Stewart joining us for Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park this year.
"So many of Radio 2's listeners have loved Rod's music over the decades, and I know Rod has put together a really special set of music for them and this special show live in Hyde Park."
Will Young, Bryan Adams, Leona Lewis, The Corrs, Giorgio Moroder, Kate Rusby, The Shires and Ward Thomas, and
Shaun Escoffery.
Tickets are on sale from today (June 12).
His 'n' hers leathers: Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster complement each other in biker jackets as they jet in to London
It's a feeling experienced by most of us after a long-haul flight - a desperate need for coffee.
And despite being more seasoned than most of us at constant jet-setting, it looked like Rod Stewart was dying for a caffeine fix after flying in to London.
Accompanied by his wife Penny Lancaster and their two young sons, the veteran singer, 70, headed straight for a wake-up at a Costa Coffee at Heathrow's Terminal 5 after arriving from Los
Angeles
After his drink, it looked like he was raring to go as he strutted out of the terminal in his rock 'n' roll style in a leather jacket and jeans.
Of course, no celebrity outfit would be complete without the obligatory dark sunglasses.
His wife Penny, 44, opted for a similar look in a leather biker jacket, jeans, burgundy hat and shades.
Meanwhile, bringing up the rear was an airport steward carrying a trolley containing the family's whopping 13 pieces of luggage.
'But this is where me and Penny, this is where we come from.'
Penny added: 'It would be lovely for our kids to go to schools in England.
'We were both educated here. The children would be better off being educated here.'
However, despite his English home, Rod will keep his eight-bedroomed US home in Beverly Hills, which he bought for $12million in
1991.
The pair had been spotted out for dinner in Los Angeles on Saturday evening.
Last year, Rod revealed he was moving back to the UK from California because he wanted his two youngest children to have a British
education.
He originally moved to LA in 1975 to avoid paying the top UK tax rate, with his three of his eight children Kimberly, Sean and Ruby
being born Stateside.
He said last year: 'This place (London) is still in my heart. We are planning hopefully on moving back in about 18 months so my kids
can grow up here. It’s not definite.

I Don't Want To Talk About it: Rod Stewart is dwarfed by leggy wife Penny Lancaster following meal with acting icon Jane Fonda
Crooner Rod Stewart looked miles shorter than his wife Penny Lancaster following a meal out in Beverly Hills on Saturday
evening.
The pair were pictured leaving Spargo restaurant after dining with Jane Fonda, 77, who brought along her dog Tulea for the
meal.
Penny, 44, appeared much taller than she is on the night as she left the restaurant holding hands with her 70-year-old man, walking a
couple of feet in front of him
However, despite the illusion, Penny is a mere 10 cms taller than her husband, standing at 1.85m tall, when wearing
flats.
She looked incredible in an orange bodycon mini dress which flattered her curves and topped off the look with a white cropped jacket
and a pair of gold glittery sandals.
Her hair was perfectly blow-dried for the occasion and she carried nothing but her mobile phone in her hand.
Rod was wearing his favourite brocade jacket with a pair of black trousers and his matching slipper shoes for the night
out.
While fitness fanatic and actress Jane, wore a white trouser suit over a lemon coloured jumper, as she carried her pet pooch in her
arms.
Rod has been busy keeping his followers up to date on his upcoming tour dates andhe recently tweeted: 'It’s a date, São Paulo.

How's the weather up there? Rod Stewart is dwarfed by model wife Penny Lancaster as they coordinate in white outfits at event
Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster were a match made in heaven on Thursday evening.
The couple coordinated in radiant white for a night on the town at the Theirworld & Astley Clarke Summer Reception in Los
Angeles.
Rod, 70, flashed a proud grin as he wrapped an arm around his gorgeous wife, 44, who dazzled in a sleeveless white mini dress that
hugged her trim belly.
The 6ft 1in model towered over her other half as usual with her stylish sandal heels that were adorned with a glimmering gold ankle
strap.
Her sandy blonde hair tumbled down in a perfectly styled mane that bounced upon her shoulders, and her sun kissed complexion shone
with glossy nude lips.
Rod, meanwhile, matched his wife with a white blazer and button-up shirt.
The singer looped on a patterned scarf around his neck and polished off the look with black trousers and a pair of loafers that were
adorned with a crossbones embellishment.
Once inside, Penny lovingly cosied up to her husband of eight years.
Theirworld supports opportunities of all types that will enhance the life and well-being of children around the world.
Penny and Rod were just a handful of stars to support the organisation, which has partnered with a number of organisations dedicated
to helping children
Exclusive: Ronnie cites example of management being “very protective” - and hopes for Faces shows with Steve Winwood
Rod Stewart’s management wouldn’t let him sign copies of a Faces book, Ronnie Wood has recalled – even though he, Ian ‘Mac’ McLagan and Kenney Jones had already provided their autographs.
The guitarist cites the event as an example of how “very protective” Stewart’s organisation are of the singer – which is one of the main reasons a Faces reunion hasn’t yet taken place.
Wood tells Classic Rock’s Ian Fortnam: “There was a wonderful photographic memory lane thing which Mac, Kenney and I signed. Rod Stewart’s lawyers, it really was like a divorce – ‘Rod is
not signing this.’
“Rod was saying: ‘Just give them to me and I’ll sign them.’ We went for dinner when he came to London, and he said: ‘Get them to me. I’d love to do it.’ But they wouldn’t allow it.”
But Wood still believes a reunion can take place, with the death of keyboardist McLagan last year making
it even more urgent.
“Rod is very game, and me and Kenney, obviously,” he reports. “I said, ‘Why don’t we just get our old mate Stevie Winwood?’ I think that would be marvellous – test the water for a gig or two.
“Rod’s management are very protective. If only they weren’t there to put the spanner in the works, it would be quite a simple thing just to do what we do.”
Wood, who last month released a book based on his 1960s diary, is featured in the
current edition of Classic Rock, on sale now in print, digital and via TeamRock+.
Penny Lancaster is glamorous in black and white dress as she enjoys lunch date with husband Rod Stewart and their young sons
He's 70 years old but that hasn't stopped Rod Stewart from being a hands-on dad.
The singer enjoyed a family lunch outing with wife Penny Lancaster and their sons Alastair, nine and four-year-old Aiden in Los
Angeles on Saturday where they quite sweetly all held hands.
Rod kept it casual in white jeans, a red and white shirt and trainers, with a straw hat, while Penny, 44, was typically glam in a
black and white dress which showed off her long legs.
Alastair showed his allegiance to his dad's favourite football team by wearing a Celtic strip as Aiden was sunny in a yellow T-shirt
and combat shorts.
It was an extremely low-key outing for the family but Rod's children are no strangers to the limelight.
Last month in Sydney, Rod gave Aiden his own shot at the limelight, inviting the youngster up onstage with him for a rendition of Baby
Jane.
The cute youngster looked as though he was in his element, dancing to his famous dad's music and clapping his hands.
And in March, Rod brought Alastair along with him when he was asked to present the League Cup trophy to the winners of
the Scottish League Cup Final match between Celtic and Dundee United.
Luckily for the star and his son, it was their team, Celtic, that won the match after securing an impressive 2-0 victory over
Dundee.
It was recently revealed that Rod's children Kimberly, 35, and Sean Stewart, 34, are set for their own reality TV
programme.
