Rod Stewart Takes Over iHeartRadio Theater With New Tunes & Classic Hits: 'I Truly Love What I Do'

Rod Stewart performs during iHeartRadio LIVE on Nov. 27, 2018 at Burbank Studios in Burbank, Calif.

How much were fans anticipating Rod Stewart’s iHeartRadio Live performance in Burbank, Calif.? As a stage hand brought Stewart’s microphone stand to the front of the stage on Tuesday evening, that simple action alone elicited audience applause.

At the stroke of 7 p.m. PT, the man himself took center stage for an intimate performance featuring songs from the recently released Blood Red Roses, his 30th studio album, and classic gems from his deep catalog. Also livestreamed on iHeartRadio’s official YouTube channel and broadcast across the company’s AC stations, the show got off to a rollicking start with two numbers from Roses: “Look in Her Eyes” and “Hole in My Heart.”

Rounding out the set with spirited audience sing-alongs to enduring faves “You’re in My Heart,” “Some Guys Have All the Luck” and “Forever Young,” Stewart underscored what he told host and KOST Los Angeles morning personality Ellen K during the show’s Q&A segments: “I truly love what I do.” The pair also talked about what inspires his songwriting (“As you go on in life, you get motivated by the experiences you go through”) and his high-kicking limberness onstage (from playing football [soccer] with his two youngest sons). At one point after performing “Luck,” the fun-loving Stewart picked up a hand dryer onstage to blow out and refresh his trademark locks.

The ever-dapper Stewart -- sporting a black shirt and black slacks accented by a dashing gold Dolce & Gabbana blazer -- changed into an abstract black-and-white patterned blazer as he treated fans inside the theater to a few more songs following the live stream/broadcast. That set list included “Maggie May,” the searing heartbreak ballad “Grace” and “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” Stewart and crew closed with Chuck Berry's hard-charging “Sweet Little Rock & Roller.”

He has spoken candidly of being a father to eight children and insisted his brood of all ages keeps him a 'kid at heart'.

And catching up with his son Sean Stewart, 38, in Beverly Hills on Wednesday, Rod Stewart caught the eye in an eccentric ensemble that saw him don a pair of zebra-print trainers and aviator shades that boasted red mirrored lenses.

Clad in an all-white ensemble, the Maggie May crooner, 73, embarked on a shopping spree with son Sean - whom he shares with his ex-wife Alana Stewart.

Stepping out in Los Angeles, Rod favoured a smart look that paired together white jeans with a granddad collared shirt tucked into the waistband of his denim.

He sported a leather belt around the band of his jeans and threw a cream blazer atop his ensemble, along with a monochrome neck-tie.

Although, it was Rod's choice in accessories that turned heads, as the singer opted to hide behind a stand-out pair of red aviator shades, while sporting a pair of zebra printed hi-top trainers.

He pulled a pair of Adidas socks up to his ankles and seemed to narrowly avoid a mishap, as his laces appeared to be undone.

Rod appeared relaxed and perfectly content as he stepped out with son Sean - who cut a casual figure in black hooded sweatshirt that featured checkered detailing on the sleeves, navy shorts and white sliders.

Rod shares son Sean with his first wife Alana. The duo were married for five years and are also parents to daughter Kimberley Stewart, 39.

Singing sensation Rod has fathered eight children in total, including two children during his second marriage with Rachel Hunter, daughter Renee, 26, and son Liam, 24. The pair were married for nine years from 1990-1999 and eventually divorced in 2006.

Rod Stewart has added a string of dates to his 2019 tour — including four new UK gigs.

The legendary British musician, who released his 30th studio album Blood Red Roses in September, will now visit Hove, Sheffield, Nottingham and Newcastle, in addition to his eight UK dates that had already been announced.

It comes alongside news of an extended tour across Europe, which will see the 73-year-old travel across the continent from Portugal to Poland.

However, there is still no news of any upcoming London dates. The last time Stewart played in the capital was at the O2 in February 2017. We'll be keeping an eye out and will update this page with any news.

Blood Red Roses is Stewart's 30th studio album, and follows 2015's Another Country. The superstar's latest album showcases 13 new songs, including singles like "Didn't I," "Look In Her Eyes," and "Grace."

Stewart's Blood Red Roses was recorded mostly on the road, as Stewart has explained, "Most of these songs were recorded trans-Atlantic. It was all done in hotel rooms or backstage after concerts. We'd stay behind for a couple of hours and if we were in the mood we’d do some recording. It’s a great way to make a record. It meant that you're not locked in one space for months on end. We never really went near a traditional recording studio which I think was great. I’ve spent too many years locked in dull studios, not wanting to be in there. I always think I make albums for a few friends, and this record has that intimacy."

During iHeartRadio LIVE with Rod Stewart, fans will see the rocker performing some of his new Blood Red Roses music, as well as some fan favorites from throughout his incredible

Rod Stewart plays a shaggy-haired turtle in new advert campaign against plastic pollution

The rocker stars alongside Game of Thrones Thor Bjornsson to raise awareness of the dangers facing our environment

Sir Rod Stewart stars as an animated singing turtle with his trademark shaggy haircut in a new environmental campaign against plastic bottles.

As a choir of hipster young folk and animated marine animals injured by plastic parts sing about the global damage caused by single-use plastic bottles, the 73-year-old’s unmistakable gritty vocals can be heard.

Rod as the sea turtle is carried to the front of the crowd by Game of Thrones star Thor Bjornsson who plays the Mountain in the show while the rocker sings: “How many bottles would it take, before we face the cost? We can’t keep using all this plastic, or soon we’ll all be lost.”

Sir Rod said: “I have a great love for our oceans and marine life and was happy to lend my voice and support to this campaign.

“If it helps raise awareness and effect simple changes like switching to reusable bottles then I’m honoured to be a part of it.”

The video has been made by SodaStream International and begins with a boardroom of nasty money-men overjoyed at how many plastic bottles they’ve sold.

The human choir then sings Ocean of Change, a song about wanting to live in harmony with the rest of he world when they are stopped by a seagull falling from the sky before it coughs up some plastic.

Rod’s turtle then arrives with one of its flippers wedged in a plastic bottle. He then breaks down the boardroom door and says to the businessmen: “Why are we killing the only planet we have?” before claiming on reusable SodaStream bottle could save up to 2000 plastic bottles a year.

CEO for SodaStream Daniel Birnbaum, said: “Plastic has become a pandemic threat with its impact upon human health still unknown, but with devastating environmental consequences to our oceans and marine life.

“In this campaign, we wanted to give a voice to marine animals and, together with them, encourage people and corporations to switch from single-use plastic to reusable packaging.”

The video has been launched in tandem with the website www.FightPlastic.com , where SodaStream encourages consumers to take a stand against single-use plastic.

Sir Rod Stewart blasts Donald Trump over Californian wildfires

Sir Rod Stewart has taken to Twitter to blast Donald Trump over his ‘accusatory’ tweet about the Californian wildfires. The angered singer took to the social media platform after the US president tweeted that the fires were the result of “poor” forest management.

Rod's tweet read

Mr. President, while people’s homes are burning, while lives are being lost & while firefighters are risking their lives, California needs words of support & encouragement, not threats or finger pointing & accusations. Where is Winston Churchill when you need him?

The original tweet by Trump read: “There is no reason for these massive, deadly and costly forest fires in California except that forest management is so poor. “Billions of dollars are given each year, with so many lives lost, all because of gross mismanagement of the forests. Remedy now, or no more Fed payments!” Sir Rod retorted: “Mr. President, while people’s homes are burning, while lives are being lost & while firefighters are risking their lives, California needs words of support & encouragement, not threats or finger pointing & accusations. Where is Winston Churchill when you need him?” The Faces front man was not the only celebrity to attack the president, singer Katy Perry called Trump’s tweet “absolutely heartless” adding: “There aren’t even politics involved. Just good American families losing their homes as you tweet, evacuating into shelters.” Harold Schaitberger, president of the International Association of Fire Fighters, told CNN that he thought the tweet from the president were “reckless and insulting” to the firefighters and people being affected by the fires.

Rod Stewart's huge dating faux pas before marrying Penny Lancaster

The model reveals that she and hubby Rod Stewart almost weren't meant to be – but her granddad intervened

She's been married to rocker Rod Stewart since 2007.

But now Penny Lancaster has revealed that the couple were almost not meant to be, after the star failed to show up for lunch with her grandfather when they first met.

Speaking on Friday's episode of Loose Women, Penny, 47, revealed that her father's father played a huge part in bringing them together.

She explained: “I love the idea that my father gave me away, because if it wasn't for his father, Rod and I wouldn't be together.

“Because he introduced us in a sense. He was meant to meet us. Rod was meant to meet my granddad and I for a lunch, and we'd only met for a week.

“And he promised he would turn up. And Rod has got his excuses why, but he never came.”

Penny went on to reveal that her grandfather – whose birthday it was - later insisted that she drive him to Rod's house.

She continued: “Driving my grandfather home, he said: 'Well, you know, you promised me, it's my birthday. I'm an old man, how long have I got left?' You know: 'Let's go round there.'

“I can't turn up to his house, but he said: 'Are you a Lancaster or not?' And I said: 'OK, Granddad.'

“And from that point onwards it was bringing together two families and at the end of the day that what I think marriage is about, uniting two families.

“If it wasn't for my granddad we wouldn't be together.”

Rod, 73, who was also appearing on the show, later explained why he was absent for Penny's grandfather's special day.

He revealed: “I was going through a bit of a... still a bit broken hearted and I was getting up late and not shaving and that sort of thing – not looking after myself.

“I just totally forgot about it. This is a long [time ago]. It's 20 years ago.

“Things have changed,” Rod joked: “II had a shave this morning.

“Her grandfather, said to you: 'We're Lancasters, we don't give up. Let's go round and knock on the door and go in. So, bless him.”

Penny said: 'He tried tell me it was one his daughter’s friends but I knew it wasn't and  gave him an ultimatum there and then'.

Adding: 'I told him I don't want to be a girlfriend. I want to be THE girlfriend.'

Rod said: 'She's had me under the thumb since then. There was just that one dalliance and we've been together ever since.'

The couple appeared inseparable on the show, where they also spoke about undergoing IVF for their youngest, Aiden, seven.

The British rocker - who in total is a proud dad of eight children - also admitted that it was terrific having children of all different ages, because it kept him a 'kid at heart.'

Speaking of his two youngest who he shares with Penny, Rod gushed: ‘They're all adorable, the seven and twelve year old really take up a lot of my time - that's why I've got my injured foot!'

Touching upon his full brood, he admitted: 'They are of different ages, all the way from the 20s to the 30s. It keeps me a kid as well at heart.'

Rod and Penny's chemistry has hard to avoid during the interview, and the musician was clearly smitten as he admitted: ‘I swore I was never going to get married again, but this one is irresistible.’

And speaking of their IVF journey to conceive their youngest, Rod stated of the process: 'We just waiting for one to go up and we said, "look at this one - it's swimming up there!"

ROD Stewart has addressed rumours he cheated on Penny Lancaster when they first began dating.

Legendary singer Rod Stewart, 73, confirmed he had a “dalliance” with another women in the early stages of his relationship with Penny Lancaster, 47.

On an episode of Loose Women last year, Penny admitted she discovered a photograph of him alongside another woman in 1999.

She explained: “When I became a girlfriend of his, I didn't want to be 'a girlfriend', I wanted to be 'the girlfriend' or else it wasn't good enough for me.

“I remember finding a photograph of him with another woman and he went: 'Oh, but it was my daughter's friend.' And I said: 'I warned you – bye, bye.'”

“You're talking a long time ago, 20 odd years ago,” he said. “There was one dalliance, yeah. But otherwise we've been together and it's been wonderful and everything.”

Rod Stewart, 73, leans on son Sean, 38, as he leaves LA coffee shop in a foot brace

He injured his leg after falling on a 'great big lump of concrete' earlier this month.

And Rod Stewart, 73, was pictured grappling with his injury on Sunday as he leaned on his eldest Sean, 38, for support while they grabbed a coffee in Bel-Air.

The I Don't Want To Talk About It crooner wrapped his arm around his offspring as he hobbled on his brace clad foot.

Despite his injury, Rod looked incredibly stylish in a pair of cream chinos and light blue linen shirt, which he left unbuttoned to his chest.

Although rocking a foot brace, the Maggie May singer sported a navy-coloured slider on his other foot and wrapped a complementing sky blue wool jumper around his waist.

Rod continued his fashionable display by accessorising his look with a cross pendant and another necklace that featured his beloved 'Celtic' on it.

Working his usual spiky crop, he shielded his eyes from the Californian sun with a pair of reflective aviators.

Sean opted for a more casual attire for the afternoon out and donned the Scottish national football team tracksuit with a pair of white Adidas trainers.

Helping his father out, Sean, who is the third eldest of Rod's eight children, wrapped his arm around Rod's waist as he aided him towards his car.

Earlier this month, the rock legend revealed his alternative choice in footwear was due to a football injury after he fell on a 'great big lump of concrete', while playing with his two youngest sons; Alistair, 12, and Aiden, seven.
